During my school days I use to think that longest train route in India might be the one going from North to South in one go and it was somewhat true to some extent when I heard about Himsagar Express which connects Katra(Jammu & Kashmir) to Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu). The distance is near about 3700 kms in total. But guess what? This ain’t the longest running train in Indian railways.
Have you ever heard of ‘Vivek Express’? I guess not. This train runs from Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh (Assam) and covers a distance of about 4200+ kms in one go. That makes it the longest running train of India. It covers near about 9 states and halts 56 times before the final destination. The running time is 80 hours which is approximately 3.5 days. If you are new to the country you will experience different cultures of India in one journey itself. The best deal right? The sleeper class ticket for the entire journey will cost you just above ₹1000 INR whereas you get 3 tier AC tickets for ₹2800 INR.
So if you have that urge of doing something crazy and interesting, you can try 15905 train number and become an instant legend!
Thank you for your minute:)
