I try to keep a low profile while traveling. No fancy restaurants or lavish hotels, just plain and simple traveling. Agenda is to explore the place and know about the city and not sleep in AC rooms after eating alfredo pasta. That is why I am able to roam 4 weeks in a month that too after paying my EMIs.
This is my simple spending traits on any weekend travel:
I never book them online unless I have an ultra good offer. I prefer to book whenever I reach a certain destination. It costs me around ₹400 – ₹600 for a night. If you are traveling on a weekend then you just need one night booking, that is Saturday, since the other two nights you would be spending on the train.
Unless you are on a food trip try to eat local food in nearby restaurants. My budget for the whole day of eating never overshoots ₹500/day. Trust me, only metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi are expensive, but once you get out of these fancy places you will always get cheap options. So overall this costs you around ₹1000 for 2 days.
Wherever possible try to book a train for the journey. If you are traveling in sleeper coach then the price would be very cheap. The train from Mumbai to Varanasi costs you ₹590 only, just imagine. You will not end up spending more than ₹1000 – ₹1100 on this one.
This includes your entry tickets and local transport if any. I prefer walking wherever possible else I end up spending on electric autos (which are almost everywhere). The monument entry tickets are not more than ₹50 – ₹100. So all and all you can keep ₹400-₹500 for this expense.
So if you add on:
Total Expense: ₹3000
So this is the estimated cost required for a weekend travel. Better than a friday night party?
Thank you so much 🙂
