There ain’t any universal definition for this one. It always depends on where you are traveling and more importantly ‘How’ you are traveling. After traveling to more than 100+ destinations in and around India I came up with below points for myself. I am sure this will help you out to plan your travel too.
Plan at least 60 to 75 days prior. Also please don’t go by the perception that ‘early booking is equal to cheap flights’ because not every air carrier opens their option 4 to 6 months prior the journey date, also offers on credit cards and Wallets are not open this early. The cheapest I find is 2 to 3 months prior.
Well ‘early booking is equal to confirm booking’ holds true here. IRCTC opens the booking 4 months prior the journey day. And please, do not wait for Tatkal tickets, only God’s special child gets this one and you are not one of them, always remember. So don’t buy yourself a disappointment, plan wisely.
Let’s say the destination is about 700 to 800kms then Bus is always an alternate option if you are unable to reserve a ticket in the train. Bus ticket prices generally remains same even a week prior to journey. It spikes up just 2 to 3 days prior. So you if you are planning Goa, you just need to pack that bag, because a bus will be always waiting for you.
Lol, seriously. Just sit on it and get lost to wherever you wish!
Thank You for your minute 🙂
