The world’s oldest and first ever travel agency has become non operational today. I am not an expert but can certainly say that online travel agencies played a major role here. Today we have small travel agencies offering various customized itinerary options and people are very eager to explore these places as per their requirements. I remember checking Thomas Cook website two years back (since I was new to traveling) which provided lots of travel options but it was as per their experiences and their choices, so I didn’t choose that option.
Today whenever I hear people talk about their travel days, most of them speak about traveling with free will as a result though they are willing to spend money on travel but they will chose a more customized plan, Thomas Cook certainly could have done R&D on these upcoming customer demands. It started losing customers to these online players as a result of which they were in Debt for £1.1 Billion. Of course other geopolitical factors like Brexit and upcoming regulations played a certain role too, but I have no ideas on that part.
I hope that Expedia and other travel giants won’t disappoint the customers of tomorrow.
Thank you for your minute 🙂
